Overview

Damian, 38, is an overseas Taiwanese, divorced his wife and returned to Taiwan to open his restaurant, Verso. While at Verso, he meets Jerry. Their relationship intensifies and Damian yearns to start a family, with Jerry reluctant to take on parental duties at such an early age. Four years later and through surrogacy, they are now gay parents to a four-year-old boy. Jerry still has not come out to his parents and has now become a fulltime dad even though his parents still pressure him to marry a woman. Damian is busier than ever at Verso and their son Kai is just getting ready for pre-school....

Damian, who runs a restaurant in Taipei and has always dreamed of “starting a family and raising children”. After a two-year stable relationship with her boyfriend Jie Li, the two went on a surrogacy journey together and successfully gave birth to son Kai Kai. Until the son entered kindergarten and confronted the curiosity and differences of their peers and the parents’ gossip, the two fathers had to think about how they would explain what “mother” was to the younger Kaikai.

“What is a mother?”

Kaikai, who is only 7 years old, asks Damian and Jerry. This is the first challenge facing two gay fathers. Not giving him a proper answer, Damian and Jerry run into questions that are addressed. Should they be fathers sitting just in time? Should Jerry be YouTuber again? Should Kaikai go to kindergarten soon? When dad and dad figure out who is who and what is what, the real maternal crisis ensues ––– Jerry’s Hualienian mother comes to visit them.

While at Verso, he meets Jerry and his relationships intensify and Damian aspires to start a family, Jerry is reluctant to take on parental duties at such an early age. Four years later, and through surrogacy, the four remained rendezvous parents. Jerry still did not open up to his family and although his parents pressured him to get a marriage, he is now a full-time father. Damian Verso is busier than ever and their son Kai is preparing for preschoolers.
