Law Proposal Recognizing Marriage Equality Received First Approval in Switzerland
According to the news of Euronews, Switzerland is one step closer to the legal recognition of gay marriage, the law proposal on the issue was adopted in the National Council of the parliament.
In the voting results show us, gay marriage received 124 ‘acceptance’ & 72 “rejection”. The proposal, which will be submitted for the approval of the Council of States in the next stage, also makes it legal for lesbian couples to have children through the sperm bank.
According to opinion polls, 80 percent of Swiss support the recognition of gay marriages. The Conservative people want a referendum but failed to collect enough signatures for it. Although gay partnerships are legal in Switzerland, couples cannot have rights such as citizenship and adoption.
